Sauna Guide Uploader

An English version of this page is available below: About Sauna Guide Uploader (English)

Sauna Guide Uploader

  • youtube.upload(Manage your YouTube videos):本ツールはこの権限を、運営者の動画を運営者のチャンネルにアップロードすることだけに使います。

  • 投稿済み動画の一覧の ID(次の題名と動画の ID を読むためだけに使い、保存しません)
  • 本ツールで投稿した動画の ID(アップロードの結果として受け取ります)

About Sauna Guide Uploader (English)

Sauna Guide Uploader (the “Tool”) is a private tool used by Saniki, the operator of Sauna Guide (https://saunner-guide.com/), to upload Shorts to the operator’s own YouTube channel, 【Sauna Guide】サウナガイド (@sauna_daddy). The Tool uses YouTube API Services.

The Tool is a small program that the operator runs from a command screen (command line) on the operator’s own computer. It is not a website or a public app. Only the operator uses it, and it connects only to the operator’s own channel. No one else uses the Tool, and it does not handle information about anyone else’s channel.

What the Tool does

  • Uploads Shorts made by the operator to the operator’s channel, including at a scheduled time.
  • Looks up, by title in the channel’s list of uploaded videos, a video that the operator uploaded manually with the YouTube app or a video from an interrupted upload, and records it so that the same video is not uploaded twice.
  • Regularly (normally every day) checks that the recorded videos still exist on YouTube and that its authorization is still valid.
  • Revokes its access and deletes the information stored by the Tool when the operator runs the revoke command.

The Tool has no feature for reading video statistics, such as view, like or comment counts, or the privacy status of videos. The operator checks the numbers for the operator’s own videos in YouTube Studio.

Upload flow

  1. For each video, the operator decides the title, description, privacy status (public, unlisted or private), whether the video is made for kids, and whether it includes paid promotion.
  2. The operator approves each video. When the operator approves it, the Tool displays the destination channel name, the title, the description, the privacy status, the language, the made-for-kids declaration and the paid promotion declaration on screen, and the operator checks them. Each approval can be used for only one upload.
  3. Before uploading, the Tool confirms that the authorized channel is the same as the recorded channel, and does not upload if it is not. When the operator uploads from the operator’s own terminal, the Tool displays the destination channel name and the settings to be sent, and uploads only after the operator types yes.
  4. The Tool uploads the video to the operator’s channel exactly as approved, including when it is uploaded at a scheduled time. A scheduled upload is made only if the authorized channel is the same as the channel shown at approval (the channel recorded by the Tool). If the title, description, settings or video is changed after approval, the Tool does not upload the video until it is approved again.

When uploading, the Tool sends the video together with its title, description, category, the language of the title and description (Japanese), the privacy status and the declaration of whether the video is made for kids. For a video that includes paid promotion, it also sends that declaration.

Permissions (OAuth scopes) and why they are needed

The Tool uses only the following two permissions, which the operator granted with the operator’s own Google account. The text in parentheses is how each permission is shown on Google’s consent screen.

  • youtube.upload (“Manage your YouTube videos”): the Tool uses this permission only to upload the operator’s videos to the operator’s channel.
  • youtube.readonly (“View your YouTube account”): the Tool uses this permission only to confirm the ID and name of the operator’s channel, to read the list of uploaded videos (titles and video IDs), and to check that the recorded videos still exist on YouTube.

The Tool has no feature for editing or deleting videos or for managing comments.

Information the Tool accesses

The Tool obtains only the following information about the operator’s own channel from YouTube. It does not access personal information of other YouTube users or viewers.

  • Channel ID and name (to confirm that the authorized channel is the same as the channel recorded by the Tool)
  • The ID of the channel’s list of uploaded videos (used only to read the titles and video IDs below; not stored)
  • Titles and video IDs in the list of uploaded videos (to avoid uploading the same video twice, and to find by title a video that the operator uploaded manually or a video from an interrupted upload; titles are used only for matching and are not stored; only the ID of the matching video is stored)
  • Whether each recorded video still exists on YouTube (the Tool sends the recorded video IDs and receives only the IDs of the videos found)
  • The ID of each video uploaded with the Tool (received as the result of the upload)

The Tool does not obtain video statistics, such as view, like or comment counts, or the privacy status of videos from YouTube. It does not obtain the text of comments either.

The Tool requests only the fields needed for the items above. It does not receive or store any other fields.

How information is used and shared

The information is used only for the following purposes:

  • Uploading the operator’s Shorts to the operator’s channel, including at a scheduled time
  • Confirming that the destination is the channel the operator authorized
  • Avoiding uploading the same video twice, and recording videos that the operator uploaded manually
  • Checking that recorded videos still exist on YouTube, and deleting the records of videos that can no longer be found

The information is not provided or sold to any third party and is not used for serving ads or for ad analysis. Only the operator views or handles the information obtained by the Tool. It is not given to generative AI or any other external service.

Storage and retention

  • The channel and video information obtained from YouTube is stored only on the operator’s computer, in a location that only the operator can read and that is not synced to cloud storage.
  • For each video, the Tool stores the video ID and URL, the date and time the video was last confirmed to exist on YouTube, how and when it was recorded (uploaded with the Tool or uploaded manually), and the paid promotion declaration that the Tool sent.
  • For the channel, the Tool stores the channel ID and name, the date and time the authorization was last confirmed as valid, and the agreement record (date and time of agreement, the version of the privacy policy and the links displayed).
  • The Tool’s access token (including the refresh token) and the Google Cloud client information are also stored in a location that only the operator can read.
  • The Tool’s work records (its logs, and per-video notes of approvals and errors) are kept in a work folder on the operator’s computer. Because that folder is synced to cloud storage, the work records do not contain channel or video information obtained from YouTube (channel name, channel ID, video IDs or titles).
  • The work records contain only the number of items processed, the operator’s own management names for the videos, the approval records, whether each run succeeded or failed, the type of error and what to do next (including general error types returned by YouTube) and the version of the privacy policy agreed to.
  • Only the latest value of the information obtained from YouTube is kept, with no history. Regularly (normally every day), the Tool checks that its authorization is still valid and that the recorded videos still exist on YouTube, and updates its records.
  • A record that could not be confirmed again within 30 days of its last check is deleted before 30 days have passed. If a recorded video cannot be found on YouTube, its record is deleted immediately.

The Tool does not display ads and does not set cookies in any browser. For details, please see the section “Use of YouTube API Services (English version)” in our privacy policy.

Revoking access and deleting information

  • Running the Tool’s revoke command immediately notifies Google to revoke the Tool’s access and deletes the YouTube data stored by the Tool (access token, channel record and per-video records) and the Tool’s logs.
  • In addition to this command, access can be revoked at any time from the Google security settings page (https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions).
  • If access is revoked from that page or the authorization expires, the Tool detects this the next time it checks its authorization (normally by the next day) and immediately deletes the YouTube data it stored. In any case, the data is deleted within 30 days of the revocation.
  • Deletion of stored information can also be requested through the contact form. After confirming that the requester is the owner of the channel, the information will be deleted within 7 days of the request.
  • Deleting information stored by the Tool does not affect videos or data on YouTube. To delete videos or data on YouTube, please use a YouTube application, such as the YouTube app or YouTube Studio, or another authorized client that supports deletion.

Agreement to the YouTube Terms of Service

By using the Tool, users agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Before the first authorization, the Tool displays links to the YouTube Terms of Service, the Google Privacy Policy, our privacy policy, our terms of service and this page, together with how to revoke access, and asks the user to enter their agreement.
